Queensland act
The Act creates MEDQ — a powerful corporation sole led by the Minister — to drive statewide development, housing and infrastructure. MEDQ can declare Priority Development and Place Renewal Areas, override local planning, buy/lease/develop land, enter finance deals and compulsorily acquire private property (with compensation and buy‑back rights). The 2024 changes add social and affordable housing powers and support for registered community housing providers. It affects landowners, councils, developers and housing providers and centralises major development decisions.
