Commonwealth legislation
This law governs export of fish and fish products from Australia, requiring export permits, registration of processing establishments (including vessels), and approved food‑safety arrangements with hygiene, temperature and construction standards. It sets specific rules for items like shellfish and crocodile meat, trade descriptions, official marks and government certificates, and an audit/assessor regime.
It affects exporters, processors, permit holders, auditors and enforcement officers. Its aim is to ensure food‑safety and market access; non‑compliance carries penalties and loss of permits.
