What it does
The Evidence (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1991 (ACT) is the ACT's specialist evidence statute that complements the uniform Evidence Act 2011. It deals with procedural protections for vulnerable witnesses, the use of audiovisual and audio links in proceedings, special requirements for sexual offence and family violence proceedings, and miscellaneous evidentiary rules that fall outside the scope of the uniform evidence law framework.
The Act has been substantially amended, reaching Revision 52 as at November 2025. It interacts closely with the Evidence Act 2011 (ACT), the Crimes Act 1900 (ACT), and the Legislation Act 2001 (ACT).
