sec.28 Property found during search
This section applies if a person conducting a search of a child under section 24 , 24A , 25 or 26 finds property that— is a thing declared by the chief executive by written notice to be a restricted article, prohibited article or illegal article; or the person reasonably believes— threatens the security or good order of the detention centre; or endangers, or may be used to endanger, the child or someone else. The person must take possession of the property and give it to the chief executive. The chief executive must make a record of the find. If the property belongs to the child, the chief executive must ensure a detention centre employee— makes a record in the property register of the particulars of the property; and signs the record; and asks the child to sign the record. If the child refuses to sign the record, a detention centre employee, other than the employee who made the record, may sign the record. s 28 amd 2024 SL No. 232 s 10 (sec.28-ssec.1) This section applies if a person conducting a search of a child under section 24 , 24A , 25 or 26 finds property that— is a thing declared by the chief executive by written notice to be a restricted article, prohibited article or illegal article; or the person reasonably believes— threatens the security or good order of the detention centre; or endangers, or may be used to endanger, the child or someone else.
