sec.20 Water plan outcomes—environmental
The environmental water plan outcomes for this plan are— to minimise changes to flows of water, including natural variability of flows, in the plan area that support— waterholes as refugia; and fish spawning, fish movement and fish recruitment; and floodplain ecosystems; and wetlands; and river-forming processes; and riffle habitats; and environmental values and water quality objectives established under the Environmental Protection (Water and Wetland Biodiversity) Policy 2019 for water in a catchment in the plan area, and water that flows from that catchment to the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria; and to maintain an underground water regime in the plan area that supports ecosystems dependent on the underground water to which this plan applies; and to provide a flow regime that— maintains the flow of fresh water from estuaries in the plan area to the marine waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria; and supports productive ecosystems in the receiving waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria. In this section— fish recruitment means the successful development and growth of juvenile fish to a stage at which the fish are able to reproduce. receiving waters means waters that receive flows of water from the plan area. s 20 amd 2019 SL No. 155 s 230 (sec.20-ssec.1) The environmental water plan outcomes for this plan are— to minimise changes to flows of water, including natural variability of flows, in the plan area that support— waterholes as refugia; and fish spawning, fish movement and fish recruitment; and floodplain ecosystems; and wetlands; and river-forming processes; and riffle habitats; and environmental values and water quality objectives established under the Environmental Protection (Water and Wetland Biodiversity) Policy 2019 for water in a catchment in the plan area, and water that flows from that catchment to the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria; and to maintain an underground water regime in the plan area that supports ecosystems dependent on the underground water to which this plan applies; and to provide a flow regime that— maintains the flow of fresh water from estuaries in the plan area to the marine waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria; and supports productive ecosystems in the receiving waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria.
