#### 2A Objects of Act 2A Objects of Act > The objects of this Act are— > > > (a) to protect public health and safety and the environment in connection with the water industry, including in the longer term, and > > > (b) to protect the interests of consumers, particularly small retail customers, in the quality, reliability and price of water and sewerage services, including in the longer term, and > > > (c) to facilitate the efficient, reliable and sustainable provision of water and sewerage services, having regard to financial, environmental and social considerations, and > > > (d) to promote the sustainable use of resources in connection with the water industry, and > > > (e) to facilitate competition in the water industry with a view to encouraging innovation and improved efficiency in the industry. > > **s 2A:** Ins 2021 No 26, Sch 1\[2\].
