Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What it does: This Act authorizes a one-off payment of £25 million from the Australian Government to the British Government. The money comes from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (Australia’s central bank account) and is given as a contribution toward the United Kingdom’s costs from fighting World War II in the Pacific region.

Who it affects: Primarily Australian taxpayers (who funded the grant through consolidated revenue) and the British Government (which received the funds).

Why it matters: This was a post-war gesture of financial solidarity. After WWII, Australia effectively reimbursed Britain for part of the shared military expenditure incurred defending the Pacific region. The Act is a straightforward "money bill" with no ongoing regulatory impact—once the £25 million was paid, the Act served its purpose.
