The money comes from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (Australia’s central bank account) and is given as a contribution toward the United Kingdom’s costs from fighting World War II in the Pacific region.\n\n**Who it affects:** Primarily Australian taxpayers (who funded the grant through consolidated revenue) and the British Government (which received the funds).\n\n**Why it matters:** This was a post-war gesture of financial solidarity. After WWII, Australia effectively reimbursed Britain for part of the shared military expenditure incurred defending the Pacific region. The Act is a straightforward \"money bill\" with no ongoing regulatory impact—once the £25 million was paid, the Act served its purpose."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/united-kingdom-grant-act-1947","history":"/api/acts/united-kingdom-grant-act-1947/history","analysis":"/api/acts/united-kingdom-grant-act-1947/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/united-kingdom-grant-act-1947/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/united-kingdom-grant-act-1947/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/united-kingdom-grant-act-1947/documents"}}
