80 Power to enter into natural resource agreements (1) The Minister, on behalf of the State, may enter into a natural resource agreement with a traditional owner group entity for the whole or any part of the land that is the subject of the recognition and settlement agreement, which may provide for any of the following— S. 80(1)(a) amended by No. 4/2013 s. 23(1)(a). (a) strategies to enable members of the traditional owner group to participate in or obtain employment in the management of the natural resources of the land; S. 80(1)(b) amended by No. 4/2013 s. 23(1), substituted by No. 67/2016 s. 20(1). (b) the carrying out of agreed activities on the land for the purposes set out in section 84; S. 80(1)(c) substituted by No. 67/2016 s. 20(1). (c) the principles of sustainability that apply to the carrying out of agreed activities; S. 80(1)(d) substituted by No. 67/2016 s. 20(1). (d) any matter related to paragraph (a) or (c). S. 80(1)(e) repealed by No. 67/2016 s. 20(1). S. 80(2) substituted by No. 67/2016 s. 20(2). (2) A natural resource agreement must be published in the Government Gazette. S. 80(3) inserted by No. 4/2013 s. 23(2), substituted by No. 67/2016 s. 20(2). (3) A natural resource agreement has effect on whichever is the later of— (a) the day it is published in the Government Gazette; or S. 80(4) inserted by No. 67/2016 s. 20(2). (4) A natural resource agreement— (i) another natural resource agreement dealing with the same land has effect; or (ii) it is revoked as agreed in the agreement; or (iii) it lapses or ceases to have effect according to the terms of the agreement.
