#### 5 Authorisation of special powers to prevent terrorist acts 5 Authorisation of special powers to prevent terrorist acts > An authorisation for the exercise of the special powers conferred by this Part may be given in accordance with this Division if the police officer giving the authorisation— > > > (a) is satisfied that there are reasonable grounds for believing that a terrorist act could occur at some time in the next 14 days, and > > > (b) is satisfied that the exercise of those powers will substantially assist in preventing the terrorist act. > > **s 5:** Am 2004 No 48, Sch 3 \[1\]; 2005 No 54, Sch 2 \[7\] \[8\]; 2016 No 17, Sch 1 \[2\].
