Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This is a straightforward money bill from the Depression era. The Commonwealth Government is giving £130,000 to Tasmania as financial assistance for the 1933-34 financial year. This payment is on top of money already flowing to Tasmania under a 1929 Act.

What it does:

Authorises a single grant paid from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (Australia's main government bank account)
Splits the payment into 12 equal monthly instalments (roughly £10,833 per month)
Applies only to the financial year starting 1 July 1933

Who it affects: Primarily the Tasmanian Government, which received this federal support during the Great Depression. It does not impose obligations on individuals or businesses.

Why it matters: This was typical of 1930s federal-state financial relations, where the Commonwealth provided direct grants to states struggling with reduced tax revenue during the economic crisis.
