### 15 When applications for parentage orders may be made
> > (1) An application under [section 13](#GS13@EN) for a parentage order in relation to a child –
> >
> > > > (a) may be made not less than 30 days, and not more than 6 months, after the day on which the child is born; or
> > >
> > > > (b) may, if the application is to be made by a person on whom a copy of an application is served under [section 14(6)](#GS14@Gs6@EN) , be made within 14 days after the copy is so served; or
> > >
> > > > (c) may be made at a later time, with the court's leave.

> > (2) The court may only grant leave under [subsection (1)(c)](#GS15@Gs1@Hpc@EN) for an application to be made under [section 13](#GS13@EN) in relation to a child after 6 months after the day on which the child is born if it considers that –

> > > > (a) there are exceptional circumstances that justify the making of such an application after that period; and
> > >
> > > > (b) granting leave is in the best interests of the child.
