Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This law gives Tasmania a $15 million boost in federal funding for the 1974/75 financial year.

What it does:

Amends the States Grants Act 1973 to add a new section (6A) providing a special payment of $15 million specifically to Tasmania, on top of their regular yearly grant.
Changes future calculations: For working out Tasmania's grants in 1975/76 and every year after, the law treats the 1974/75 base amount as including this extra $15 million. This effectively makes the increase permanent rather than a one-off payment.

Who it affects: Primarily the State of Tasmania's budget, ensuring higher baseline federal funding for future years.
