### 29 Intention to acquire land may be abandoned if compensation excessive > Where a road authority has given notice of its intention to take land for any of the purposes hereinbefore set forth, and the compensation in respect thereof is determined, if the road authority deems it inexpedient to pay the amount thereof, it may, within 21 days after receiving notice of the amount of compensation so determined, withdraw the notice of intention to take the land on payment of the costs of the reference and determination.
