83A Purposes of div 5.3 The purposes of this division are— (a) to curtail trade in stolen vehicles by preventing vehicle information about written-off vehicles, particularly vehicle identifiers, being used to register stolen vehicles; and (b) to facilitate inspection of written-off vehicles that have been repaired; and (c) to make information available to prospective purchasers about whether a vehicle has previously been written-off.
