45 Effect of suspension
(1) The road transport authority must not issue a driver licence to a person
(or renew a driver licence issued to the person) if the person’s driver
licence or right to drive any vehicle in the ACT is suspended under
this division.
(2) The period for which a person’s driver licence is suspended under this
division is concurrent with any uncompleted period of driver licence
suspension or disqualification applying to the person under—
(a) another part; or
(b) any other territory law, other than the Road Transport (Driver
Licensing) Act 1999, division 2.3 (Demerit points system).
(3) Subsection (2) is subject to any order by a court in relation to the other
suspension or disqualification.
(4) A person whose driver licence or right to drive any vehicle in the ACT
is suspended under this division is not entitled to apply for, or be
issued with, a restricted licence during the suspension period.
(5) The road transport authority must not register a vehicle in the name
of a person if the person’s right to drive any vehicle in the ACT is
suspended under this division.
(6) The road transport authority must not register a vehicle if the right of
everyone to drive the vehicle in the ACT is suspended under this
division.
