51 Suspension or cancellation of registration

(1)  [Section 51 Subsection (1) amended by No. 17 of 2024, s. 39, Applied:01 Nov 2024] [Section 51 Subsection (1) amended by No. 18 of 2019, s. 34, Applied:01 Feb 2021] The Registrar must suspend or cancel a person’s registration if the Registrar –

(a) has provided, under section 50 , notice to the person of his or her intention to suspend or cancel the registration; and

(b) has considered any reasons provided by the person in accordance with that notice; and

(c) is satisfied that the grounds for suspension or cancellation under section 49 exist.

(1A)  [Section 51 Subsection (1A) inserted by No. 18 of 2019, s. 34, Applied:01 Feb 2021] The Registrar must cancel a person's registration if the Registrar is satisfied that the person has been convicted of a disqualifying offence.

(1B)  [Section 51 Subsection (1B) inserted by No. 24 of 2025, s. 9, Applied:27 Nov 2025] The Registrar must cancel a person's registration in a category of registration if the Registrar is satisfied that, while the person holds registration in that category under this Act –

(a) the person has been refused registration in an equivalent category of registration under a corresponding law; or

(b) the person’s registration in an equivalent category of registration under a corresponding law has been cancelled.
