Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does:

This regulation is a clean-up measure that simply cancels (repeals) five older versions of regulations about preventing pollution from ships. It’s essentially removing outdated rulebooks from the statute books.

Specifically:

Repeals Statutory Rules from 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, and 1992
Commences on 10 January 1995

What this means:

No new rules are created
No changes to existing pollution standards or shipping requirements
The main law (the Protection of the Sea Act 1983) remains unchanged
Ship operators and maritime businesses just need to ensure they’re not relying on the specific old regulation versions listed above

In short: This is administrative housekeeping to prevent confusion about which regulations are currently in force.
