#### 59 Inspectors 59 Inspectors > > (1) The Minister may, by instrument in writing, appoint a person to be an inspector for the purposes of this Act and the regulations. > > > (2) The Minister may furnish to an inspector a certificate stating that he or she is an inspector for the purposes of this Act and the regulations. > > > (3) If a person ceases to be an inspector, the person must return the person’s certificate of authority to the Minister or the Minister’s nominee— > > > > > (a) as soon as practicable after the person’s appointment ends, or > > > > > (b) if the Minister or the Secretary directs the person to return the certificate by an earlier day—by the directed day. > > > > Maximum penalty— > > > > > (a) 100 penalty units, and > > > > > (b) for a continuing offence—a further 10 penalty units for each day the offence continues. > > > (4) In this section— > > > > Minister’s nominee means a person nominated by the Minister by written notice given to the person required to return the certificate of authority. > > **s 59:** Am 1985 No 217, Sch 3 (2); 1992 No 112, Sch 1; 2021 No 34, Sch 5\[15\]; 2025 No 21, Sch 2\[14\].
