43 Preliminary conferences—generally
The objects of a preliminary conference in relation to an application
for a protection order are to—
(a) find out whether the proceeding for the order may be settled by
consent before it is heard by the Magistrates Court; and
Note 1 Before making a consent order, the court must explain certain things
about the order (see s 60 and s 61).
Note 2 Words spoken or anything done at the preliminary conference that is
related to a question to be decided by the court in the proceeding for the
protection order is generally inadmissible as evidence in the proceeding
(see s 57).
