#### 256 Inspector may enter premises by consent or under a warrant (1) For the purposes of finding out whether this Act is being, or has been, complied with or assessing the correctness of information provided under this Act, an inspector may: (a) enter any premises; and (b) exercise the monitoring powers set out in section 259. (2) If an inspector has reasonable grounds for suspecting that there may be evidential material on any premises, the inspector may: (a) enter the premises; and (b) exercise the enforcement powers set out in section 260. (3) However, an inspector is not authorised to enter premises under this section unless: (a) the occupier of the premises has consented to the entry, and the inspector has shown his or her identity card if required by the occupier; or (b) the entry is made under a warrant. > Note: If entry to the premises is with the occupier’s consent, the inspector must leave the premises if the consent ceases to have effect: see section 271.
