Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This short amendment updates the Naturalization Regulations 1923 in two ways:

1. Higher citizenship fees

Increases the cost of a naturalization certificate (the document granting Australian citizenship) from £3 to £5.
Existing applications protected: If you already lodged your application before 1 October 1932, you pay the old £3 fee.

2. Department name change

Updates two regulations to replace "Home Affairs" with "the Interior". This is a machinery amendment—the government department handling citizenship changed its name, so the paperwork is updated to match.

Who it affects: People applying to become Australian citizens and the department staff processing those applications.
