Higher citizenship fees**\n- Increases the cost of a naturalization certificate (the document granting Australian citizenship) from £3 to £5.\n- **Existing applications protected**: If you already lodged your application before 1 October 1932, you pay the old £3 fee.\n\n**2. Department name change**\n- Updates two regulations to replace \"Home Affairs\" with \"the Interior\". This is a machinery amendment—the government department handling citizenship changed its name, so the paperwork is updated to match.\n\n**Who it affects**: People applying to become Australian citizens and the department staff processing those applications."}},"importantCases":[],"_links":{"self":"/api/acts/naturalization-regulations-amendment","history":"/api/acts/naturalization-regulations-amendment/history","analysis":"/api/acts/naturalization-regulations-amendment/analysis","conflicts":"/api/acts/naturalization-regulations-amendment/conflicts","importantCases":"/api/acts/naturalization-regulations-amendment/important-cases","documents":"/api/acts/naturalization-regulations-amendment/documents"}}
