Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

What this does This instrument winds down specific World War II-era economic controls by repealing three sets of wartime regulations made under the National Security Act.

Key changes

Tobacco rationing ends: From 1 April 1946, the rules restricting how much tobacco people could buy are abolished
Fish controls scrapped: The entire National Security (Fish) Regulations are repealed, removing government control over fish supply and distribution
Economic rules trimmed: Deletes Regulation 19 from the Economic Organization Regulations

Why it matters Made in March 1946 as the war ended, this represents the dismantling of Australia's wartime command economy. It returns everyday goods like tobacco and fish to normal commercial trade rather than government-controlled allocation systems.
