263 Requests under conventions relating to legal
proceedings in civil and commercial matters
(1) The Magistrates Court has jurisdiction to make any order or take any
action necessary to comply with a request received from the consular
or other authority of a relevant foreign country for serving documents
in the ACT or taking evidence in the ACT.
relevant foreign country—a foreign country is a relevant foreign
country if a convention relating to legal proceedings in civil and
commercial matters is in force between the country and Australia.
