12 Acts by magistrate out of court etc
(1) Any magistrate out of court or the registrar may do all or any of the
following:
(a) receive an information;
(b) issue a summons or warrant on an information;
(c) issue a summons or warrant to compel the attendance of a
witness;
(d) do anything else that is necessary and preliminary to a hearing.
(2) Without limiting subsection (1), if a law in force in the ACT provides
that an information or complaint may be laid or made before, or a
summons or warrant issued by, a court or justice of the peace, the
information or complaint may be laid or made, and the summons or
warrant may be issued, by a magistrate or the registrar.
