This Order changes how many councillors Burnie City Council has and when that change happens. It sets the council total at 10 for the period beginning with the 2002 election certificate and at 9 from the 2005 election certificate, and reduces the number of seats to be contested at the 2002 and 2005 elections (from 6 to 4, and from 6 to 5 respectively). It affects voters, candidates and council administration because it alters representation and the mechanics of forthcoming elections.
