Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

The law authorises the federal Treasurer to raise up to £30 million by issuing inscribed stock or Treasury Bills and to advance those funds to State governments for public housing under the Commonwealth and State Housing Agreement Act 1945, with a small share for loan administration. It matters because it uses federal borrowing—rather than taxation—to provide cheap, coordinated post‑war financing to accelerate state-led housing construction.
