71 Return of local practising certificate
(1) This section applies if a local practising certificate granted to an
Australian legal practitioner—
(a) is amended, suspended or cancelled by the relevant council or
because of an order of the ACAT under section 425 (ACAT
orders—Australian legal practitioners); or
(b) is replaced by another certificate.
(2) The relevant council may give the practitioner a written notice
requiring the practitioner to return the certificate to the council in the
way stated in the notice within a stated period of not less than 7 days
after the day the practitioner is given the notice.
(3) The practitioner must comply with the notice.
(4) The relevant council must return the practising certificate to the
(a) if the certificate is amended—after amending it; or
(b) if the certificate is suspended and is still current at the end of the
suspension period—at the end of the suspension period.
