474 Purpose—ch 5
(1) The purpose of this chapter is to ensure that an appropriate range of
options is available for intervention in the business and professional
affairs of law practices and Australian-registered foreign lawyers for
the purpose of protecting the interests of—
(a) the general public; and
(b) clients; and
(c) lawyers, including the owners and employees of law practices,
so far as their interests are not inconsistent with the interests of
the general public and clients.
(2) It is intended that interventions happen consistently with—
(a) similar interventions in other jurisdictions, especially if a law
practice operates in the ACT and 1 or more other jurisdictions;
and
(b) other provisions of this Act.
