168 Duration of registration—foreign lawyers
(1) Registration as a foreign lawyer granted under this Act is in force
from the day stated in the local registration certificate until the end of
the financial year in which it is granted, unless the registration is
sooner suspended or cancelled.
Division 2.7.4 Applications for grant or renewal of local registration as foreign lawyer
(2) Registration as a foreign lawyer renewed under this Act is in force
until the end of the financial year after its previous period of currency,
unless the registration is sooner suspended or cancelled.
(3) If an application for the renewal of registration as a foreign lawyer
has not been decided by the following 1 July, the registration—
(a) continues in force on and from that 1 July until the relevant
council renews or refuses to renew the registration or the holder
withdraws the application for renewal, unless the registration is
sooner suspended or cancelled; and
(b) if renewed, is taken to have been renewed on and from that
1 July.
