81Appointment of authorised officers

81 Appointment of authorised officers (1) Subject to subsection (2), the IBAC, by instrument, may appoint a sworn IBAC Officer to be an authorised officer for the purposes of this Act. (2) The IBAC must not appoint a sworn IBAC Officer to be an authorised officer unless the IBAC is satisfied that the sworn IBAC Officer is suitably qualified or trained to perform the functions and exercise the powers of an authorised officer for the purposes of this Act. (3) An appointment of a sworn IBAC Officer as an authorised officer— (a) may, generally or in a particular case, specify the functions, duties or powers under this Act or the regulations in respect of which that person is an authorised officer; and (b) may be made subject to any conditions that the IBAC considers appropriate.
