Tasmania regulation
These regulations fix the size thresholds used to decide when a new electricity generating plant is a “major power facility” under the Hydro‑Electric Corporation Act. Regulation 4 sets 40 MW for new plant at Tarraleah (Schedule 1, item 23), 40 MW for pumped hydro from Lake Cethana to an upper reservoir, and 300 MW for other new generating plant. They affect project proponents and the Department of State Growth by determining which projects attract the Act’s regulatory obligations and compliance costs (reg 4).
