sch.2-sec.78 Specifications for warning signs
A warning sign at the front of the bus must show— the words ‘SCHOOL BUS’ in capital letters at least 100mm high; or the required image. A warning sign at the rear of the bus must show the required image. The warning sign showing the required image must— be a rectangular shape at least— if warning lights are on the warning sign—550mm long and 400mm high; or otherwise—400mm long and 250mm high; and have a black border; and have black graphics; and have a yellow surface complying with class 1, 2, 400 or 100 of the version of AS/NZS 1906 ‘Retroreflective materials and devices for road traffic control purposes’ applying to the warning sign at the sign’s date of manufacture. In this section— required image means an image of 2 children in the same proportions as the children in AS 1743 ‘Road Signs—Specifications’, image W6-3, with the image of the taller child at least 230mm high. sch 2 s 78 amd 2021 SL No. 9 s 9 (4) (sch.2-sec.78-ssec.1) A warning sign at the front of the bus must show— the words ‘SCHOOL BUS’ in capital letters at least 100mm high; or the required image. (sch.2-sec.78-ssec.3) The warning sign showing the required image must— be a rectangular shape at least— if warning lights are on the warning sign—550mm long and 400mm high; or otherwise—400mm long and 250mm high; and have a black border; and have black graphics; and have a yellow surface complying with class 1, 2, 400 or 100 of the version of AS/NZS 1906 ‘Retroreflective materials and devices for road traffic control purposes’ applying to the warning sign at the sign’s date of manufacture. (sch.2-sec.78-ssec.4) In this section— required image means an image of 2 children in the same proportions as the children in AS 1743 ‘Road Signs—Specifications’, image W6-3, with the image of the taller child at least 230mm high.
- (a) the words ‘SCHOOL BUS’ in capital letters at least 100mm high; or
- (b) the required image.
- (a) be a rectangular shape at least— (i) if warning lights are on the warning sign—550mm long and 400mm high; or (ii) otherwise—400mm long and 250mm high; and
- (i) if warning lights are on the warning sign—550mm long and 400mm high; or
- (ii) otherwise—400mm long and 250mm high; and
- (b) have a black border; and
- (c) have black graphics; and
- (d) have a yellow surface complying with class 1, 2, 400 or 100 of the version of AS/NZS 1906 ‘Retroreflective materials and devices for road traffic control purposes’ applying to the warning sign at the sign’s date of manufacture.
- (i) if warning lights are on the warning sign—550mm long and 400mm high; or
- (ii) otherwise—400mm long and 250mm high; and
