Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This Act creates a special government fund to pay for scientific testing of ways to find natural resources underground.

Key points:

The Fund: It establishes a "Trust Account" (a special bank account held separately from normal government funds) called the Geophysical Survey Trust Account.
The Money: The government can pay up to £20,000 from the Consolidated Revenue Fund (the government's main bank account) into this special account.
What it's for: The money can only be used for two things:
1. Conducting comprehensive tests across Australia of geophysical methods (scientific techniques using physics to map underground resources) to prospect (search) for minerals, metals, oil and water.
2. Paying for the administrative costs of running this program, as approved by the Minister.

Essentially, this is 1920s legislation setting up a science budget to modernise mineral and resource exploration in Australia.
