19 Synthetic gas use
(1) The emissions from synthetic gas contained in equipment used for the production pathway for the batch, Eleaks,b, in kilograms of CO2-e are worked out using the following formula:
Start formula E start subscript leaks,b end subscript equals start fraction t start subscript b end subscript over 8.76 end fraction times sigma with subscript jk below it Stock start subscript jk end subscript times L start subscript jk end subscript end formula
where:
tb is the duration of the batch period in hours.
Stockjk is the stock of the gas type (j) contained in the equipment type (k) in CO2-e in tonnes, determined in accordance with subsection (2).
Ljk is:
(c) if the gas type (j) is sulphur hexafluoride—the default annual leakage rate in column 4 of the table in subsection 4.102(4) of the NGER Measurement Determination for the equipment type (k) in column 2 of the table for that item; or
(d) if the gas type (j) is hydrofluorocarbons—the default annual leakage rate in column 3 of the table in subsection 4.102(4) of the NGER Measurement Determination for the equipment type (k) in column 2 of the table for that item.
k is the equipment type used for the production pathway for the batch listed in column 2 of the table in subsection 4.102(4) of the NGER Measurement Determination.
j is the type of gas contained in the equipment type (k).
(2) For subsection (1), Stockjk is worked out using the following formula: Start formula Stock start subscript jk end subscript equals capacity start subscript jk end subscript times GWP start subscript j end subscript end formula
Where:
Capacityjk is the stated capacity of the gas type (j) in the equipment type (k) according to the manufacturer’s nameplate in tonnes.
GWPj is the Global Warming Potential of the gas type (j) determined in accordance with section 2.02 of the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Regulations 2008.
k is the equipment type used for the production pathway for the batch listed in column 2 of the table in subsection 4.102(4) of the NGER Measurement Determination.
j is the type of gas contained in the equipment type (k).
