Dairy Produce (Closure of Dairy Adjustment Authority) Declaration 2008

What this does: This short ministerial declaration acts as the formal 'off switch' for the Dairy Adjustment Authority — a statutory body (a government entity created by legislation) originally established under the Dairy Produce Act 1986.

The key effect:

The Dairy Adjustment Authority ceases to exist as a legal entity immediately after 31 December 2008

Who it affects: Primarily the Authority itself and any remaining administrative ties to it. This ensures there is no legal 'limbo' where a defunct body technically still exists but performs no function.

Why it matters: Government agencies don't automatically disappear when their work finishes. This declaration tidies up the statute books by formally abolishing the Authority, clarifying that it no longer has any legal powers, responsibilities, or existence.
