76 Offender to be told why fingerprints needed
Before a registrable offender’s fingerprints are taken under
section 75, the police officer must tell the offender, in language likely
to be understood by the offender—
(a) why the fingerprints are to be taken and why the police officer
is not satisfied about the offender’s identity; and
(b) that it is an offence for the offender to fail to take all reasonable
steps to allow the offender’s fingerprints to be taken; and
(c) that the fingerprints will be kept by the chief police officer.
