> > (1) In this Act—
> >
> > authorised officer means—
> >
> > > (a) an employee of the Department for the time being appointed under this Part as an authorised officer, or
> >
> > > (b) an investigator appointed under section 18 of the [Fair Trading Act 1987](/view/html/inforce/current/act-1987-068), or
> >
> > > (c) a police officer.
>
> > (2) The Secretary may appoint any employee of the Department as an authorised officer for the purposes of this Act.
>
> > (3) An authorised officer who is not a police officer is to be provided by the Secretary with a certificate of identification.
>
> > (4) An authorised officer (other than a police officer) must, when exercising on any premises any function of the authorised officer under this Act, produce the officer’s certificate of identification to any person apparently in charge of the premises who requests its production.
