Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument cancels (repeals) an old aviation safety rule called Civil Aviation Order 108.56, along with the 2007 instrument that established it.

What it does:

Removes Civil Aviation Order 108.56 from the rulebook entirely
Also removes the 2007 instrument that created it
The safety requirements haven't vanished—they've been moved to Civil Aviation Order 100.5 instead

Who it affects:

Pilots, airlines, and aircraft operators who previously had to comply with CAO 108.56 (typically covering specific aircraft equipment or operational requirements)

Why it matters:

Keeps aviation regulations tidy by removing outdated or redundant instruments
Ensures no safety gaps—the rules still exist, just under a different order (CAO 100.5)
Made by the Director of Aviation Safety under the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988
