Plain English Summary

What this law does

This Ordinance (a type of law made for Australian territories) simply cancels an earlier law from 2001 that related to building a space centre on Christmas Island.

Key details

Section 3 does all the work: it repeals (cancels) the Christmas Island Space Centre (APSC Proposal) Ordinance 2001.
The law starts working the day after it is officially registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (a public database of Australian laws).
It was made under the Christmas Island Act 1958, which gives the Federal Executive Council power to make laws for the territory.

Who it affects and why it matters

This affects Christmas Island's legal framework. It matters because it cleans up the statute book by removing legislation for a space centre proposal that apparently never went ahead. Once repealed, the rules and powers in that 2001 Ordinance no longer exist.
