Plain English Summary

1/10 complexity

This instrument formally designates Port Hedland Airport (YPPD) as a controlled aerodrome, bringing it under active air traffic control. Pilots and airlines will need ATC clearance for movements, and the airport operator must provide control services.

The change affects operators and FIFO mining services that use Port Hedland and raises safety and traffic-management standards to match busier, regulated airports.
