Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

What this does: This document temporarily exempts private owners of Cessna 525B aircraft from a specific flight data recording requirement between September 2006 and September 2009.

Who it affects: Anyone operating a Cessna 525B (a business jet) for private (non-commercial) flights.

The details: Normally, Civil Aviation Order 20.18 requires certain aircraft to have flight data recorders ("black boxes"). This exemption meant private Cessna 525B operators didn't have to comply with paragraph 6.1(a) of that Order—which likely related to recording specific flight parameters—during the three-year exemption period.

Why it matters: It allowed private operators of this specific aircraft model to fly without installing or maintaining certain expensive recording equipment that would otherwise have been mandatory.
