Plain English Summary

2/10 complexity

This exemption lets pilots of eligible single‑engine agricultural or restricted‑category aircraft used for private flights or aerial work exceed the aircraft’s certified maximum take‑off weight. Eligibility requires a permanently installed jettison system.

It waives the usual Civil Aviation Regulation 138 weight limits to permit heavier loads for operations like crop spraying, while relying on the pilot’s ability to jettison the load in an emergency to manage the safety risk.
