53 Duration of protection (1) The child must be in the CEO's care for a period determined by the CEO that does not exceed 72 hours from the time the CEO takes the child into provisional protection. Care and Protection of Children Act 2007 34 (2) Subject to any other provision of this Act and any other law of the Territory, the CEO must return the child by the end of the period to: to whom parental responsibility for the child has been given; or (b) otherwise – a parent of the child.
