35 CEO's power to investigate (1) The CEO may initiate an investigation to determine whether a child is in need of protection. (2) The CEO may do so only if the CEO believes on reasonable grounds the child might be in need of protection (whether or not inquiries about the child have been made under section 32 or 33). (3) The investigation must be conducted by an authorised officer. (4) On completing the investigation, the CEO must decide whether any further action should be taken for the child under this Part or Part 2.3.
