69 Emissions from purchased electricity use—displacement abatement
- The emissions from purchased electricity that are specifically attributable to the operation of project biomethane facility f for a reporting period (EPE, displacement, f) in tonnes CO2-e, are worked out using the following formula:
| Q subscript PE comma displacement comma f | means the amount of purchased electricity that is specifically attributable to the operation of project biomethane facility f during the reporting period, in kilowatt hours, determined in accordance with the monitoring requirements. | | EF subscript PE comma displacement | means:
for electricity obtained from an electricity grid that is a grid in relation to which the NGA Factors document includes an emissions factor—that factor, in kilograms CO2-e per kilowatt hour; or for electricity obtained from an electricity grid not covered by paragraph (a) or from a source other than an electricity grid:
if the supplier of the electricity is able to provide an emissions factor that reflects the emissions intensity of the electricity—that factor, in kilograms CO2-e per kilowatt hour; or otherwise—the emissions factor, in kilograms CO2-e per kilowatt hour, for off-grid electricity included in the NGA Factors document. |
-
For the purposes of subparagraph (b)(i) of the definition of EFPE, displacement in subsection (1), the emissions factor must be worked out:
-
on a sent-out basis; and
-
using a measurement or estimation approach that is consistent with the NGER (Measurement) Determination.
