58  Net displacement abatement amount

 (1) The carbon dioxide equivalent net abatement amount attributable to the treatment of biogas by biomethane production for a reporting period (Adisplacement), in tonnes CO2-e, is worked out using the following formula:

| f | means a project biomethane facility. | | A subscript displacement comma f | is:<br>     if the project biomethane facility net abatement amount for project biomethane facility f worked out using equation 25 is greater than or equal to zero—that amount; or     if that amount is less than zero—zero. | | Alpha | means the factor of zero or 1, as elected by the project proponent for the project for that reporting period. |

 (2) If, during the reporting period, the biomethane produced by a project biomethane facility cannot be reasonably expected to be combusted within Australia as a natural gas substitute, Adisplacement, f is taken to be zero.
