51 Proportion of methane that would have been combusted without the project—existing upgrade projects
(1) If the project is an existing upgrade project, the proportion of the methane combusted or taken to be combusted for a reporting period that would have been combusted without the project is worked out using the following formula:
| W subscript B | means the proportion of the methane combusted or taken to be combusted during the reporting period that would have been combusted without the project. | | W subscript B comma Reg | means the regulatory proportion of the methane combusted or taken to be combusted during the reporting period that would have been combusted without the project, determined using Schedule 1 to this instrument. | | W subscript B comma Def | has the meaning given by subsection (2). | | W subscript B comma Ex | has the meaning given by subsection (3). |
(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), WB, Def means the default proportion of the methane combusted or taken to be combusted during the reporting period that would have been combusted without the project, worked out in accordance with the following table.
- 1 an existing upgrade project and an electricity generation and flaring project 1. for the first 12 months after the project is classified as an existing upgrade project—0.40; and
- for later years—0.40 added to the result of multiplying 0.005 by the number of whole years in the period that starts on the day this instrument comes into force and ends at the end of the reporting period (rounding to the nearest year).
- 2 an existing upgrade project and a flaring only project 1. for the first 12 months after the project is classified as an existing upgrade project—0.30; and
- for later years—0.30 added to the result of multiplying 0.005 by the number of whole years in the period that starts on the day this instrument comes into force and ends at the end of the reporting period (rounding to the nearest year).
