Net conversion abatement is calculated as project abatement minus baseline abatement.
If a project is a biomethane conversion and displacement project and involves upgrading biogas that is solely sourced from the project landfill, an alternative method of calculating net abatement is to determine the amount of methane that is destroyed after the biogas is sent to a biomethane facility for biogas upgrading, based on the quantity and composition of the biomethane produced by this means.
Any emissions generated by the project from undertaking landfill gas capture for biomethane (for example, fuel use) are deducted from the net conversion abatement amount.
